Hometown Care at VCA Animal Medical Center of Southern California

We believe that our most valuable assets are the relationships we build with our clients.

VCA Animal Medical Center of Southern California is a state-of-the-art 14,000 square foot general, emergency, referral, specialty and teaching hospital located in West Los Angeles, California. VCA Animal Medical Center has earned the highest level of accreditation from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

VCA Animal Medical Center is staffed with a board-certified specialist, staff doctors with advanced training, highly qualified resident doctors, and accomplished paraprofessionals. Our technicians are committed to providing both the highest quality and most compassionate care possible to our patients. AMC presently employs over 20 technicians. Many have degrees in the study of veterinary technology (RVT). Our technicians work hand-in-hand with our veterinarians to ensure that your pet is closely monitored and kept comfortable. We treat our patients as if they are members of our own family. We are quite proud of our technical staff. All who get to know them are quickly impressed by the compassion they express for our patients, their knowledge of veterinary science, and their skill in handling sick and hurting animals.

The expertise and knowledge of our staff, combined with the advanced technology already in place at VCA AMC, provides general, emergency, and specialty care unsurpassed in quality or service. This signifies that we maintain the highest standards of pet health care available anywhere. It means we emphasize prevention as well as interventional care. It means we provide continuing education programs to our doctors and staff. It also means we provide accurate information and a caring, helpful, professional attitude towards our clients. We believe that our most valuable assets are the relationships we build with our clients and the fostered trust of our patients. We welcome new patients and look forward to continuing to provide our existing clientele with the quality veterinary care they have come to expect.

As a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), Dr. Schulman has consistently maintained and practiced at the highest level of surgical expertise employing the latest technology for all types of surgery. To become a board-certified specialist, a doctor of veterinary medicine must successfully complete an approved internship program (which is at least an additional 1-year commitment after having completed four years in veterinary school), complete a residency program, which is typically at least three years (with intensive study in the field of veterinary surgery), pass a rigorous examination process (written, oral and practical examination), and be certified for membership in the appropriate veterinary specialty college.

Accreditations & Affiliations
American Animal Hospital Association

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
