Dr. Carol Jeanne Kraneburg grew up in Long Island and began her career with animals in 2010 in animal rescue at North Shore Animal League. She graduated with a degree in developmental genetics from Stony Brook University, where she taught the same subject. Dr. Kraneburg attended veterinary school at Auburn University in Alabama and graduated cum laude with honors. While there, she was a Merial scholar and is now published internationally in the International Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery for her research and work on the creation of a feline vaccine. She practiced in the state of Washington prior to joining us at VCA, where she has worked in small animal general practice, urgent care, emergency, sat on the National Medical Advisory Council for the company PetIQ - governing thousands of wellness clinics nationwide - and created and ran her own veterinary services company. She is currently the medical director of two VCA locations on Long Island. Dr. Kraneburg particularly enjoys dentistry, the ongoing care of elderly patients and dermatology. Dr. Kraneburg has been trained extensively in dentistry, and shares her knowledge with newer doctors and veterinary students through teaching. She enjoys having externs from veterinary schools across the country visit to learn with her. Outside of work, she is a frequent concert-goer, a portrait painter and enjoys spending time with her little dog, Molly. Dr. Kraneburg is RECOVER CPR certified and a Fear Free Certified Veterinary Professional.
