Staff Veterinarian
DVM
Jillian Whalen received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. After 3 years of book learning at St. George's, Dr. Whalen performed her 4th year clinical rotations at Cornell and, naturally, fell in love with Ithaca. When Dr. Whalen earned her DVM in 2010, she was very fortunate to find a position at a general practice in the area, and before VCA Colonial, she worked as an Associate Veterinarian at 2 different practices in the area, as well as "moon-lighting" as an emergency veterinarian in Syracuse for a year.
Dr. Whalen's greatest passion in veterinary medicine has always been client education. She strives to communicate about patient health in a way that is complete but still easy for owners to understand, and tries to tailor patient care to the needs of individual families as much as possible.
Dr. Whalen shares her home with 3 dogs (Haggis, Dumpling, and Pumpkin), a rabbit named Nibbler, a snake named Agrippa, and two humans (husband, Marcus, and son, Clyde).
