Dr. Mary Carter graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, has been with VCA Lakota Hills Animal Hospital since 1989, and was a previous owner. 

Dr. Carter's special interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and dermatology. 

In her time away from the clinic, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her family which includes her husband Brad, two daughters, and her pets. She also loves horse shows, traveling, and flower gardening for hummingbirds and butterflies, with a special fondness for Monarch butterflies. Dr. Carter's pets include Riley (Collie), Ashlin (Shepherd mix), Sloopy (Golden Retriever), Atlas (Ragdoll kitty), Eliza (Siamese mix kitty), Dakota (Quarter horse), Max and Spirit (mini horses in training as therapy animals).
