Michele Pietrzak
Medical Director

Michele is VCA Met Vet's medical director, serving as a mentor to veterinarians and support staff members. She publishes our weekly internal newsletter and keeps very busy overseeing daily operations of the doctors and support staff. Michele finds great joy in having connected personally with so many clients and their families during her years here. She appreciates the strong bond that people form with their pets and is grateful that she can be part of that relationship.

"I feel truly blessed to have played a role in VCA Met Vet's evolution and growth over the last two decades, and look forward to the next 20 years!" she says.

Michele was born and raised in the Cleveland area, where she began working in veterinary practices at age 15. Veterinary medicine has been a big part of her life for many years. She moved to Pittsburgh in 1986 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Duquesne University. She got her start at Met Vet in 1989, when she joined the staff of the After Hours Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant, before returning to the Buckeye State to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Following graduation, she returned to Pittsburgh and naturally joined Met Vet as a veterinarian. Her professional interests include internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Thanks to first-hand knowledge, she also is quite interested in the various breed-related problems of the English bulldog.

She is accredited by the USDA and is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio State University Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society, and the Omega Tau Sigma Veterinary Fraternity.

Michele, her husband, Karl, and two sons, Adam and Luke are very active volunteers in both school and church. Outside the office, Michele enjoys relaxing with her family, attending sporting events, camping, arts and crafts, and cooking. She is an avid OSU Buckeye fan and is happy to dress in scarlet and gray any day of the week! O-H-I-O, anyone? Four-legged members of the Pietrzak family include Millie, a Bulldog Boxer mix who can't seem to keep her tongue in her mouth and Bob, a very chubby bunny. With the help of her sons, Dr. Pietrzak also enjoys rescuing and releasing injured or abandoned wild baby birds.
