Athena

Veterinary Assistant

Athena is a veterinary assistant at VCA North Rockville Animal Hospital in Rockville, Maryland, where she supports the veterinary team in providing compassionate care for pets and the families who love them. She believes every pet deserves patience, understanding, and thoughtful attention during their visit, and she works closely with both doctors and clients to help ensure each patient receives supportive, low-stress care.

Athena earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Avian Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2025. Her time studying animal science while working in a medical setting helped deepen her understanding of veterinary medicine and strengthened her ability to connect classroom knowledge with real-world patient care.

“Working with animals and the people who care for them is incredibly meaningful to me. I value being able to support pets through their care while helping clients feel informed and confident in the decisions they make for their animals.”

Athena enjoys the variety that each day in veterinary medicine brings. From assisting with patient care to supporting clients through both joyful and challenging moments, she values the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team while continuing to learn and grow in the field.

Her approach to care centers on empathy and patience. Athena understands that veterinary visits can sometimes be stressful for pets, and she makes a conscious effort to approach each patient with compassion and understanding. By recognizing that medical treatments can feel unfamiliar or uncomfortable for animals, she focuses on creating an environment that supports both their emotional and physical well-being.

“My goal is to advocate for every pet’s well-being while helping create a positive experience for both patients and their families.”

At VCA North Rockville Animal Hospital in Rockville, MD, Athena works alongside the veterinary team to help ensure pets and their families feel supported throughout every visit. Through collaboration, communication, and compassionate care, she helps contribute to the welcoming environment the hospital strives to provide for the community.
