Dr. Kate Kerr was born and raised in New England. She attended the University of Vermont for her undergraduate studies before moving to Colorado to attend the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology. After working as a veterinary technician for several years, she decided to take her education to the next level. She attended the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and spent her clinical year at the University of Florida. Dr. Kerr received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Kim joined the hospital team in 2008 after dedicating nine years to helping homeless animals at the Dumb Friends League. She describes herself as a "Midwestern-Jersey-girl" who found her true home in the mountains of the west. Although her degree is in communications and graphic design, her lifelong passion for animal welfare has taken the lead in her career path. In August 2019, Kim traveled to Kenya and worked with a veterinary team and the Africa Network for Animal Welfare to vaccinate over 9,400 dogs, cats and donkeys against rabies.
