Dr. Lisel Ruterbories grew up in Parker, Colorado. She earned her master's degree in biomedical sciences in 2008 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in May 2015, both from Colorado State University. In addition, Dr. Ruterbories obtained her certification in veterinary acupuncture from Curacore Vet in Scientific Integrative Medicine. Prior to veterinary medicine, Dr. Ruterbories tried out being a clarinetist, a horse trainer, and paralegal—nothing was quite right until veterinary medicine. For the first 7 years of her veterinary career, she was working in a small animal emergency clinic. 

Dr. Ruterbories' interests include surgery, acupuncture, imaging (radiology/ultrasonography), and the Human-Animal Bond. Dr. Ruterbories shares her home with her loving husband, three young children, two dogs, two cats, and two horses. She enjoys reading fantasy, horse training, listening to music and spending time with her amazing family!
