Surgery

The Department of Surgery at VCA RIVER has been established to offer referral services to the clients and patients of general veterinary practitioners in the greater Chattanooga area, southeast Tennessee, and north Georgia. Our surgery department is equipped and staffed to handle the unusual or particularly challenging procedures that may require specialized instrumentation, advanced training, or both; special situations in which your primary care veterinarian may recommend referral to a specialist.

SA broad variety of surgical services are offered, including orthopedic surgery (bone and joint surgery), neurologic surgery of the spine, cancer surgery, and wound management and reconstructive surgery. In addition, a broad variety of patients are seen; dogs from giant breeds to toy breeds, cats, and even exotic species. The surgery department offers an extensive array of diagnostic tools including advanced imaging (ultrasound, CT, MRI, and endoscopy), and a complete diagnostic laboratory with capability to perform a broad variety of tests on blood, other body fluids, and tissue samples.

The VCA RIVER surgery department accepts patients on a referral-only basis, so if you think your pet may need the services of a specialist surgeon, please see your primary care veterinarian first to discuss the possibility of a referral to us.

To make a referral, please use our Referral Form.
