Paul Neider

Staff Veterinarian

DVM

Dr. Neider has taken care of animals his entire life. He started as a kid by helping with the horses and barn cats at his uncle's farm, to staying up all night caring for sick calves, to volunteering at shelters, and then deciding to make it his life's work. After graduating from WCVM in 2000, he worked at mixed animal veterinary clinics and spent many 24-hour shifts caring for everything from cows, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, and of course, his favorite animals, dogs and cats. He opened his first of three small animal veterinary hospitals in Calgary, Alberta, in 2003, and until 2014, enjoyed all aspects of running busy veterinary practices. After selling his practices, he moved to Kelowna, BC, to spend more time doing what he loves outside, mountain biking, hiking, boating and skiing. He continued working and enjoying shifts at emergency hospitals and local clinics while pursuing some of his other business interests. A love of cars, a great group of entrepreneurial friends, and maybe a little luck allowed him to become a founding partner in the largest F1 racetrack in Canada (Area 27).

Paul's next adventure brought him to the USA, where he enjoyed 18 months in Texas. Missing the lakes and mountains brought him back to beautiful Idaho. Internal medicine, surgery, and dentistry are his passions, and with such a busy, well-equipped hospital, every day is an opportunity to help pet parents keep their fur kids healthy and happy. Paul's two shelties, Syrah and Flick, have also embraced the friendly, relaxed Idaho lifestyle, and can sometimes be seen working hard at the hospital (...sleeping)! Dr. Neider looks forward to meeting the many people who have trusted VCA River City to care for their pets for so many years.
