Dr. Heather Dutton is passionate about helping pets live longer, healthier, and more comfortable lives. With a keen eye for uncovering often-overlooked conditions—whether it's undiagnosed arthritis, dental disease, or anxiety—she finds fulfillment in improving quality of life for both pets and their families. What she values most in her work is building genuine connections with clients, learning about their lives, and honoring the special role each pet plays in the family.
Dr. Dutton thrives in conversation with clients, finding deep purpose in offering encouragement and care in a world that can feel overwhelming. Her philosophy is simple: love on people, advocate for pets, and make lives better.
Dr. Dutton grew up in rural northwest coastal Washington in the Skagit Valley—famous for its tulip fields—where she attended Stanwood High School. She later moved east for college and built her life and career in Eastern Washington.
Before kids, she was an ultra-runner who jumped right in with her first marathon two days after graduating high school, quickly followed by a 50-miler. These days, she embraces a more balanced lifestyle full of road trips, camping in places like Yellowstone and Zion, hiking, and being near the water. Her three red-haired kids—Judah, Everly, and Truly, affectionately known as "the JETs"—are her favorite adventure partners.
At home, her pets are part of the family team. Darby, her 12-year-old Golden Retriever/Springer Spaniel mix, has retired from running and swimming and now acts as "nanny" and protector for the kids. Jerry, a 4-year-old rescue cat, was abandoned as a tiny kitten under a client's porch, but raised by Darby—leaving him convinced he's part dog.
Together, this crew reflects Dr. Dutton's love for family, animals, and the outdoors—values she brings into every aspect of her veterinary care.
