Dr. Schlereth's desire to become a veterinarian was solidified at the very early age of 9-years-old after following his uncle Tommy around his veterinary practice. He started working in the field of veterinary medicine as a veterinary assistant when he was 17-years-old. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Cornell University, he went on to graduate from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. After practicing for several years in New York City, Dr. Schlereth opened a practice in San Diego California. Dr. Schlereth eventually sold that practice and joined VCA. He relocated with his family to Florida in 2021 and joined the team at VCA Sanibel Animal Hospital.
