Hospital Overview

Toms River Animal Hospital has been serving Toms River, Beachwood, Bayville, Pine Beach, Manchester, Brick, and the entire Ocean County since 1956. Over that time, we have grown into a state-of-the-art pet care facility with an exceptional nine-doctor team. Our doctors use their more than 130 years of combined veterinary experience every day to help keep our patients in good health and feeling great.

We are committed to offering the best possible care for your pets. Our doctors strive to keep at the forefront of veterinary medicine to ensure that we are offering the latest treatments and procedures available. Our exceptional physician team treats dogs and cats, as well as exotic pets. Our Medical Director and Boarded Internist, Dr. Michele Reimer, will often tell us that if a client can fit his or her pet in the car, we can see and treat the pet. We are excited to announce that Dr. Suzanne Ellis is now offering house call services!

Because technology is so important to early, accurate diagnosis and treatment of health issues, we make sure that having the most advanced medical equipment is one of our top priorities. Our high-tech hospital includes in-house digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and an advanced operating facility allowing us to diagnose and treat many of your pet's advanced medical conditions right at our hospital.

Early diagnosis and treatment are the keys to long, healthy lives for our pets. Our experience and years of service help keep us at the forefront of the latest evidence-based medicine; but we are still committed to maintaining the same personalized client service we've offered since we treated our first patient in 1956. We strive to create a welcome, friendly environment that facilitates open communication between our clients and our staff. We will be here to guide you, as we see your family members, over the years, become a part of ours.

Local Medical Issues

Dental Health

Periodontitis may lead to other health problems in your pets. If left untreated, periodontitis can lead to pain, inflammation, and tooth loss, and may damage organs such as the heart, liver, and kidneys, and lead to other serious health problems. Regular dental exams are extremely important to help our pets live long, happy, healthy lives.

 Heartworm Disease

It takes one mosquito bite to infect an unprotected dog or cat. Almost 300,000 dogs in the U.S. are infected with heartworms each year. Adult heartworms can cause heart and lung damage, even death. In a NC study, 28 percent of the cats diagnosed with heartworm were inside-only cats. Our doctors can help you select the right preventatives for your pets.
