Dr. Carmichael was born and raised in Marengo, Illinois. Originally intending to pursue a degree in forestry, he switched his major to Veterinary Science in college. He attended the University of Minnesota for three years and completed his bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science. He then attended the University of Illinois where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM). He performed his internship and medical residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, later receiving diplomate status of DACVIM (Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine). Dr. Carmichael is a Board-Certified Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine and enjoys the challenges of diagnosing and treatment of medical problems. He enjoys and is experienced in ultrasonography .
When Dr. Carmichael is not treating patients, his hobbies include woodworking, playing the bagpipes, and watching movies. He's also a "newbee" beekeeper. He has one dog named Sadie and a cat named Edward Charles. A true family man, he and his wife like to spend time with their three children and two grandchildren.
