Dr. Manolukas is originally from Northeastern Ohio. He received a BA from Hiram College in NE Ohio. He then received a PhD in medical microbiology and immunology in the College of Medicine and a DVM in the College of Veterinary Medicine both from The Ohio State University.
He practiced for 10 years in his native Youngstown OH, treating dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotics. He taught canine obedience and worked as a veterinarian for several dog and cat shows.
He practiced many years as an owner/veterinarian of a small animal clinic in Toledo, OH. While in Toledo, he served on several committees at the Toledo Zoo and even worked as a relief zoo veterinarian on occasions. He has a passion for practicing high-quality medicine and surgery and has special interests in dentistry, cardiology, ultrasonography, and echo cardiology.
Recently receiving advanced training in veterinary dental medicine, he has developed a focus on providing high-quality veterinary dental care, after all, every pet deserves a comfortable bite!
Dr. Manolukas left Ohio to come manage a practice in Wilmington for years. He then went on to practice for four years at VCA Wrightsville Beach. After leaving VCA, he spent a couple years away from Wilmington. However, he could not stay away from Wilmington and came back to rejoin the VCA team at VCA Wrightsville Beach as the medical director. He is excited about this new role and the opportunity to help shepherd VCA Wrightsville Beach Animal Hospital into the future.
His interests include an intense love of music. He has taught violin and piano, and his current project is learning byzantine chant, and he serves as a chanter at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. See you at the Greek Festival!
