Dr. Krystal Nieves Avilés was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she completed her undergraduate studies before moving to Lafayette, Indiana, to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Nieves enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a special interest in shelter medicine, preventive care, and client education. She is passionate about providing compassionate, personalized care and believes that partnering with pet owners is one of the best ways to help their companions live long, healthy lives.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Nieves enjoys traveling, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with family and friends. She is also excited to begin this new chapter in Jacksonville with her fiancé. Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Nieves looks forward to caring for you and your pets at VCA Augustine Loretto Animal Hospital.
