Dr. Natalie A. Smialek graduated with honors with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland in 2015. She spent a significant portion of her childhood in Highland Park with her grandparents and is happy to be able to return to the area. 

She joined VCA Cairo in November 2016 and since graduation has gained experience under our staff veterinarians in general and emergency medicine as well as surgery. After completing her national boards, passing rigorous ECFVG examinations, and obtaining licensure, she is excited to be able to practice as a veterinarian with her VCA Cairo family. Her special interests include surgery (soft tissue and dentistry) and internal medicine (endocrine diseases, especially).

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Smialek enjoys hiking, music, and spending time with her two miniature schnauzers, Eli and Allen. She is also bilingual and fluent in Polish.
