Career Highlights:
Dr. Kovac took a nontraditional path to veterinary medicine, beginning her career in mechanical engineering before pursuing her passion for animal health. After earning her DVM from Texas A&M University, she completed a rotating internship at VCA West Los Angeles, followed by a medical oncology residency and Master of Science at The Ohio State University. She became a board-certified veterinary oncologist in 2018.
Since that time, Dr. Kovac has participated in more than a dozen clinical trials aimed at advancing cancer treatment options for pets. Her work reflects a strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and the belief that each patient deserves personalized, thoughtful care.
Personal Facts:
When she’s not in the hospital, Dr. Kovac enjoys weightlifting at her local CrossFit gym, rock climbing, and gardening though her plants sometimes have other ideas.
Dr. Kovac shares her home with her husband, their spirited daughter, and two dogs—Hans, a pit bull, and Franz, a Labrador who serve as both lap dogs and self-appointed security staff.
