At AAHA-accredited VCA McKenzie Animal Hospital, we help pets live long, healthy and happy lives. We deliver the best medical care for pets and the best experience for the pet owner.
Located in Springfield, our veterinarians, technicians and support staff are trained to the highest standards. Their thorough knowledge of the latest procedures and medicines ensures that our patients receive the best preventive and healing care.
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) represents practitioners in the veterinary community who are passionate about the care of cats and supports its members in improving the health and welfare of feline patients. With a reputation as a leader in the field of feline medicine, the AAFP helps veterinary practices establish a feline-friendly environment that reduces stress for cats during veterinary visits.
The Cat Friendly Practice® program is a leading movement to make veterinary care less stressful for cats and their caregivers. This global initiative is designed to elevate care for cats by assisting practices in developing calming, cat-friendly environments and reducing stress for felines before, during, and after their veterinary visit.
Caring for pets means meeting a wide range of needs beyond health care. Fortunately, there’s a whole community of organizations and businesses eager to help.
Here’s where to meet the local groups that we recommend to our pet-loving families.
Basenji Rescue and Transport
Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs of the Basenji breed. BRAT rescues Basenjis from shelters, abusive situations, and relinquishing owners. We provide routine and advanced veterinary care for our dogs and ensure that they have been spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for heartworm, DNA tested for Fanconi syndrome, and evaluated for temperament. In order to secure a "forever home" we screen potential adopters, striving for compatibility of dog and owner.Visit Basenji Rescue and Transport

West Coast Dog & Cat Rescue
West Coast Dog and Cat Rescue began in 2006 as a program to find homes for cats from Lane County Animal Regulation Authority in Oregon using the PetSmart retail chain stores as an off-site adoption center. In 2007, WCDC expanded its mission to help both cats and dogs from all over the community. Organizational shifts realigned our focus solely for the rescue, care and placement of cats since 2010. WCDC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since its inception, WCDC has saved over 2500 cats and found them wonderful, loving homes.Visit West Coast Dog & Cat Rescue
