Karina Maurer, RVT, is a Technician Supervisor and the Hospital Purchaser for VCA Orange County Veterinary Specialists. She has lived all her life in Orange County, CA. She got her first job as a kennel attendant in September 2001 at in Fullerton. She spent the next 9 years working up to becoming one of the head technicians. Although she loved working at VCA Tri-City Animal Hospital, Karina had a desire to expand her knowledge in emergency and critical care and made the difficult decision to leave.
Karina attended Mount San Antonio College where she was able to get her Registered Veterinary Technician License in 2009. She then transferred to California Polytechnic State University in Pomona and graduated in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Karina came to VCA Orange County Veterinary Specialists in June 2012. She began working in the Emergency and Critical Care Department and realized this is where she was meant to be. She loves working with all the doctors and feels she gets the broadest slice of veterinary medicine.
When Karina is not caring for patients, she loves spending time with her husband and kids. They have a Persian cat named Dallas (GO COWBOYS) and plan to add a puppy in the near future. They love to travel and when the weather is right, you will always find them near a beach or pool soaking up the sun.
