It’s time for your kitten’s first birthday bash! Whether you’re throwing an actual party for your extroverted kitty or keeping it more low-key for your shy cat, we’ve got several cat-safe suggestions and ideas to make this first birthday memorable for you both!
- Giving them special snacks: It’s okay to give your cat some extra special treats for their birthday! Some pet bakeries have special pet-safe treats that might make a great addition to the occasion. Make sure that any food you offer isn’t toxic to cats and that you don’t overdo it. Too many snacks can cause stomach upset.
- Giving them birthday gifts: Your cat probably has plenty of toys by now, but what’s wrong with a couple more? You can choose new types of toys your pet hasn’t been exposed to or replace some of their well-loved favorites. Consider interactive toys that get your cat up and moving! Other great ideas include new beds or a window seat.
- Making paw prints: You can use pet-safe paints to get your 1-year-old cat’s paw prints. This can be a fun activity to repeat each year.
- Going on a playdate: If your cat has a favorite person to visit, you could head to their home or have them over to visit the birthday cat.
- Choosing a birthday outfit for your cat: If your pet is used to wearing cat clothes, you could pick an adorable birthday outfit for the occasion. If your cat isn’t yet used to this, consider sticking to something like a special collar or small bandanna, as you don’t want to cause them stress on their birthday.
- Creating a birthday scavenger hunt: Hide fun treats around your home. Make sure to count how many you have before you hide them so that you can see just how many the birthday cat finds!
- Building a new cat tree: You can never have too many cat trees. Well, maybe, but we’re not going to set the limit for you.
There are so many things you can do for your cat’s birthday! The only requirements we have are that you: (1) have a safe and fun time with your best friend and (2) that you share the evidence (photos and/or videos) with your VCA care team.
