Dr. Amber Maggio hails from Inverness, Scotland. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Comparative Pathology from the Royal Veterinary College in 2015 and her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. In 2020, she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Practice at Bristol University. A Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) since 2018, she finished an equine ABVP residency in 2024 and is currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Veterinary Practice remotely.
Dr. Maggio joined VCA in 2024 as a relief veterinarian and became part-time in the summer of 2025. She enjoys the positive impact pets have on their owners and values the diverse community in Santa Cruz. Dedicated to a patient-centered approach, she is a Feline Friendly Veterinarian and a member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association. She plans to become certified in acupuncture and expand her knowledge in feline cardiology.
Now living in Boulder Creek, Dr. Maggio shares her home with a black Labrador named Holly and a horse named Tapatio. Despite her busy schedule with work and her child, she loves traveling—especially to Japan—and is learning Japanese. In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding and exploring the coastal environment.
