Amoxi-Drop® is a synthetic penicillin-type antibiotic effective against a range of infections caused by gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Amoxicillin inhibits the growth of bacteria by preventing the cell wall formation of the bacterial cells.
Side effects may include vomiting, lack of appetite, and diarrhea. These symptoms may go away during treatment. If these symptoms continue, contact your veterinarian. The following reactions are rare, but if the pet experiences an allergic reaction such as irregular breathing, rash, fever, puffiness and swelling around the face contact your veterinarian immediately.
Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Dogs and Cats
Amoxi-Drop® is used to treat many types of bacterial infections including: ear, skin, urinary tract, upper respiratory and bladder. Amoxi-Drop®s are highly palatable and easy to dispense to cats and fussy dogs.
Amoxi-Drop® should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Use all of the medication prescribed, even if your pet appears well. If the entire course of treatment is not given, the infection may recur or worsen.
Amoxicillin is not for use in dogs with penicillin or cephalosporin allergies. The following drugs can potentially interact with amoxicillin: chloramphenicol, erythromycin, tetracycline, aminoglycosides, cephalosporins and probenecid.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
