Frequently Asked Questions

A pet wellness plan—like CareClub—is a year-long membership that helps you budget for your dog or cat’s routine and preventive care. Depending on the care plan you choose, the following may be included:

  • Unlimited wellness, recheck, sick, urgent care and emergency exam fees
  • Doctor-recommended vaccines (such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, Lyme, FVRCP and FeLV, depending on your pet’s species)
  • Early disease detection testing (such as fecal exams, blood panels, urinalysis and heartworm testing)
  • Deworming treatments when needed
  • Microchipping
  • Optional add-ons like dental cleaning or spay/neuter services

The specific services vary by your pet’s age (puppy/kitten, adult or senior dog/cat), so you’ll get a personalized health care plan that fits their life stage.

CareClub dog and cat health care plans start at $19.99 per month to access unlimited exams. If you’re looking for more personalized care, plan pricing varies depending on your pet’s age and specific needs. Select plans have a $49.99 enrollment fee. Your CareClub agreement outlines all services that are included for your pet when enrolled.

Pets are referred to VCA Specialty Care when the complexity and critical nature of their health issues warrant a more advanced level of care.

Equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment, coupled with our highly trained specialists and care teams, Specialty Care Hospitals offer advanced veterinary services in a variety of areas such as cardiology, neurology, oncology, internal medicine, surgery and ophthalmology. One Specialty Care consultation is included with your CareClub membership. Learn more about VCA Specialty Care.

At our Specialty Care Hospitals, we believe better information leads to better decisions and the best outcomes for your pet. Our veterinary specialists help you see what’s possible and navigate what’s next.

Working together with you and your Primary Care veterinarian, our specialists and hospital care teams have deep expertise and will help you understand what to expect from diagnosis through treatment.

Each CareClub plan is specific to an individual pet and cannot be transferred between owners, pets or VCA hospitals.

Each CareClub plan is set up for a full year of preventive care and cannot be canceled during that term, except in special cases like moving or the loss of your pet.

Yes. CareClub plans renew automatically on your enrollment date, ensuring your pet’s health care continues without interruption. You’ll receive email reminders ahead of time so you can manage your renewal. You can turn off auto-renewal up to one day before your renewal in your myVCA™ account

Yes! Dog and cat wellness plans are designed to help you save up to 25% annually on preventive care compared to paying for each service separately. More importantly, regular checkups and testing help catch health issues early, keeping your pet healthier and happier for years to come.

A pet wellness plan is not the same as insurance. While CareClub covers routine and preventive services along with urgent and emergency exams, it does not cover treatment for accidents, injuries or unexpected illnesses. Many pet owners choose to have both a wellness plan and pet insurance—the wellness plan covers yearly preventive care, while insurance helps protect against unexpected high-cost treatment for emergencies.

* Covered services vary by plan. Unlimited exams exclude specialty and telemedicine exams. Plan includes one Specialty Care consult.
† Vaccines may include rabies, distemper, parvovirus, canine upper respiratory disease, canine influenza, FVRCP, FeLV, leptospirosis and Lyme disease, depending on your pet’s species and your location. Lab work checks for issues like diabetes, liver and kidney disease, parasites and general infections.
‡ Annual savings assumes that all included CareClub Membership services and products are consumed during the membership year.

CareClub Memberships are preventive pet health care plans and not pet insurance.
CareClub Membership covers only the selected health care services and products which are specifically identified in the applicable CareClub Membership agreement.
