Dr. Allison Schauer joined the VCA Acacia Animal Hospital team in the Fall of 2021, focusing on treating dogs and cats. She grew up in Massachusetts with a lifelong love of animals and a dream of working as a veterinarian. To achieve this goal, she attended UConn for her undergraduate studies and graduated from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine with her DVM in 2020.

Dr. Schauer is especially passionate about cats, behavior, dermatology, ophthalmology, and client education. Due to her interest in behavior and desire to decrease the fear, anxiety, and stress that her patients experience, she became a Fear Free Level 2 Certified Professional. This means that she employs techniques to achieve the most comfortable experience, in and out of the hospital, for her patients. She is dedicated to providing the best care for her patients and working with their pet parents to provide them with a long, happy life together! She also enjoys educating clients on how to best care for their beloved family members and particularly loves working with the disabled community, as making veterinary medicine accessible to all is another strong passion of hers.

Dr. Schauer has two wonderful cats of her own, Jasper and Lynx, and she is known to walk them on harnesses and leashes. She grew up with cats and a wonderful yellow lab named Tommy. She looks forward to meeting your furry family members!
