Joe Devereaux (Dr. Devereaux) was raised in Leicester, MA, and graduated from Leicester High School before attending Worcester State University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Biology and graduated magna cum laude. While at Worcester State he was involved with many research projects including the Red Bellied Cooter Head Start program run by Mass Fish and Wildlife to help the endangered Plymouth Red Bellied Cooter, a species of turtle.
After graduating from Worcester State he went to veterinary school at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. There he focused his clinical studies on both small animal and exotic animal medicine. During his clinical rotations, he got experience with wildlife medicine by completing rotations at Tufts University Wildlife Clinic in North Grafton, MA, and ARCAS Wildlife Clinic in Peten, Guatemala. After graduating from vet school, Dr. Devereaux moved to Berkshire County and practiced in Pittsfield for several years before deciding to make a change and join our team here at VCA All Caring Animal Hospital.
Dr. Devereaux has broad clinical interests including exotic animal medicine (especially reptiles), soft tissue surgery, laparoscopy and endoscopy (minimally invasive surgery), ultrasound, and wildlife medicine. He currently works with several wildlife rehabbers in Berkshire County and someday hopes to be able to open a dedicated wildlife clinic.
