Hospital Overview

VCA All Critters Animal Hospital has been serving the Issaquah/Sammamish community since 1982, and our veterinarians have over 50 years of combined experience. Each doctor is available by appointment to discuss your concerns, your pet’s health status, and plans for his or her future. We feel this one-on-one relationship will help you best determine what type of preventative care, training, and diet will benefit your companion during the years to come. Regardless of the age of your pet, you will see how quickly you and your companion friends become a part of our "family" too!

Local Medical Issues

In the Pacific Northwest, and specifically on the east side, there are two major health issues that concern our pets.

The first health issue is internal and external parasites. Many intestinal parasites are spread through fecal/oral contamination, and can cause a variety of health concerns such as diarrhea and anemia. Through routine fecal testing we have found that 1 in 5, or 20%, of seemingly healthy pets have intestinal parasites. The most common parasite we have seen is Giardia. Giardia is a zoonotic (able to be passed to humans) parasite spread through water sources and oral/fecal contamination. With so many of our family pets spending time at local lakes this can pose a major problem. The only way to know for sure that your pet is parasite free is to bring us a fecal sample to be analyzed by our laboratory.

Many pets can also be infested with fleas that can cause them to itch, develop skin infections and become anemic. We recommend pets to be on a parasite and flea preventative to keep these pests away from you, your family and your pet.

The second health issue specifically affects dogs and humans. Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease found in wildlife and livestock that can cause flu-like symptoms and kidney and liver disease. This contagious disease is passed via the infected animal's urine into water sources, where it can survive for long periods of time. Thankfully, a vaccine is available to help protect dogs from this potentially fatal disease.

Our veterinarians are here to help educate pet owners and develop personalized disease prevention protocols customized for each pet.
