Nelly has been a valued member of VCA Aventura since 2018. She began as a receptionist and progressed through the roles of veterinary assistant, reception supervisor, and assistant manager—each step preparing her for this exciting new leadership position.
Nelly's passion for animals is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Her mother was raised on Corn Island, just off the coast of Nicaragua, where she devoted herself to caring for many different animals including countless kittens—often nurturing them from their most vulnerable neonatal stages all the way to healthy adulthood. That lifelong dedication to animal care left a lasting impression on Nelly and helped shape her own deep commitment to animal welfare. Nelly has two rescue Chihuahuas, Bambii and Lola; a rescue polydactyl cat named Sparrow; and a beloved ball python named Capone.
She's especially fond alligators in particular! A true Florida girl through and through.
While Nelly's love for animals is at the heart of everything she does, what truly drives her is creating a positive, supportive environment where our staff, clients, and patients all feel happy and comfortable. She takes great pride in her team and finds joy in every interaction with the amazing clients and pets who visit us.
