Dr. Tanis earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences along with a Master of Science in Infectious Diseases studying avian viruses at the University of Georgia before completing her DVM there in 2009. Her time spent in research made it clear to her that she preferred to work one-on-one with pet owners and their pets as a career rather than in a laboratory! Dr. Tanis feels that the most important part of her career is working as a team with a client to figure out the best plan for their particular pet and their family. She has spent time practicing in general small animal hospitals as well as in feline-only practice. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tanis enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters, as well as reading, gardening, and sampling new restaurants. At home, she also has an Italian Greyhound named Ellis and two cats, Gnocchi and Minnow, to love.
