Hometown Care at VCA Franklin Park Animal Hospital

VCA Franklin Park Animal Hospital is a full-service hospital, offering advanced surgery, dental care (complete with dental radiography), full diagnostic and laboratory capability, and cat and dog grooming. We are one of the few facilities in the area that sees exotics and avian. We are open seven days a week by appointment. Our veterinarians are committed to your pet's health and our team of professionals are well trained in all aspects of veterinary medicine.

Local Medical Issues

There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health, and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, heartworm can affect both cats and dogs. Because it's transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in our region, it's a serious cause for concern. But since the winter temperatures do not get cold enough here to kill mosquito eggs, it's a year-round risk. The same is also true for flea and tick infestation and intestinal parasites, both of which pose a problem in any season. And finally, contrary to what you'd expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears, and "scaly" skin.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
