Dr. Katrina Cohen is a dedicated emergency veterinarian who brings both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to every patient she treats. Originally from Redondo Beach, California, she earned her undergraduate degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills, before going on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee. Over the past two years with VCA, she has supported patients and teams across multiple specialty hospitals, gaining valuable experience in fast-paced emergency care settings.
Dr. Cohen is passionate about being an advocate for her patients and a trusted partner for pet owners during some of their most stressful moments. She finds the most fulfillment in educating clients and helping them feel empowered in their pet's care, especially when they can better understand and support their animal's needs. Her professional interests are reflected in her involvement with the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS), as well as her RECOVER and Fear Free certifications, which highlight her commitment to both high-quality emergency medicine and low-stress patient handling.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Cohen embraces an active, outdoors-focused lifestyle. Whether she's playing soccer, going to the gym, biking, or running with her dogs, she thrives on staying active and connected to nature. At home, she shares her life with two rescued dogs (Bear, a German Shepherd Retriever mix, and Blue, a Shepherd Husky mix she rescued while in veterinary school), who are constant reminders of why she chose this profession.
