Libby Coleman Todd, Staff Veterinarian

DVM

Dr. Libby Coleman Todd, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, joined the veterinary staff at Liberty Animal Hospital in November 2007. She is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School, Mississippi State University and the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. Upon her gradation from veterinary school, she was awarded the “Dean’s Pegasus Award” as the outstanding graduate, as well as the “Gentle Doctor” award. Dr. Todd practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Birmingham for eight years before coming to LAH.

Dr. Todd enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, but she has had some additional specialized training in the field of thanatology, or the study of grief and bereavement. This education allows her to help our clients through the difficult time surrounding the illness and death of a beloved family pet. Dr. Todd is also an active participant in the activities of both the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association, devoting a portion of her time and energy to activities that support the veterinary profession. In 2014, Veterinary Practice News named Dr. Todd as one of the “14 Vets To Watch In 2014,” an annual list of distinguished practitioners and academics to watch in the new year. She and her husband, John, live in Cahaba Heights with their cats, Briscoe and Curtis and their dogs, Burn and Spark.
