Wellness Exams

Wellness Pet Exams
??????? Routine wellness exams are based on preventative care and reducing your pets health risk. Our pets cannot verbalize their own feelings or concerns, therefore a thorough physical exam performed by a veterinarian and a pet parent????????s home observations are the most important tools we have to assess our pet????????s overall health status. Routine exams allow a veterinarian to assess your pet????????s general health and identify any health issues before they become a serious illness and they can add many happy years to your pets???????? lives.
??????? Once a physical exam has been performed, your veterinarian will make recommendations for your pet including:
o Appropriate vaccinations
o Internal/external parasite control (i.e. heartworm, flea, and tick preventions)
o Dental care
o Nutritional requirements
o Other important preventative health care needs such as a blood test, urinalysis, imaging, fecal test, and cytology
??????? The frequency of the exam depends on your pet????????s age.
o Since dogs and cats age 4-5 times faster than humans, it is important that your pet receives a wellness exam at least every year for adult pets and exams twice a year for pets 7 years and older since health problems can progress much more rapidly in our pets.
??????? Typical recommendations to expect from your veterinarian:
o Pediatric Wellness for puppies and kitten 0-12 months of age
