Dr. Marquis founded VCA Tiara Rado Animal Hospital in 1983. He graduated from University of Missouri with his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1978. “Dr. Bob”, as many liked to call him, was known for his easy-going spirit, generosity, and compassion. Dr. Marquis saw veterinary medicine and his role as a practitioner as constantly evolving to improve or extend the lives of pets in his care. He was always on the forefront of new techniques and treatments, readily embracing and learning complicated orthopedics, neurology and difficult internal procedures, as well as encouraging his staff to grow their knowledge base. For several years he volunteered with the Mesa County Search and Rescue and went on many missions with his team.
In his limited spare time, he and his wife, Burdette “Birdie” enjoyed adventures flying into remote mountain airstrips, camping, and fly-fishing. His son, Zach is also an avid outdoorsman and shared many good times with his Dad. Dr. Marquis also had a step-daughter, Jody Greager.
With his passing, our hospital lost an amazing doctor, advisor, friend and colleague and will be greatly missed by his staff, clients, and patients. Honoring his life and preserving his legacy, we will continue his commitment to practice the highest quality of medicine and care for our patients.
