Continuing Education (Veterinary Support Staff); Student RVT Extern Coordinator BA, RVT, VTS (ECC)

Cindy is a California native and has been an RVT for over 30 years. She began working at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital after graduating from Los Angeles Pierce College and receiving her RVT license in 1987. She then completed a zookeeper course and did fieldwork at the Los Angeles Zoo. While at VCA, Cindy worked at a variety of general, emergency, and specialty practices, including an exotic animal hospital. In 1999, she completed the rigorous requirements and was accepted to sit for the first Veterinary Technician Specialty exam in Emergency and Critical Care. After passing and receiving her VTS (ECC), she briefly worked in the CCU at the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. She returned to VCA WLA Animal Hospital as one of the Co-Technician Supervisors. Currently, she is involved with Continuing Education for the Veterinary Support Staff. She is in charge of training employees, veterinary assistant students, RVT students, and giving continuing education lectures. Her interests include anesthesia, CPR, emergency/critical care, exotics/zoomed, lecturing, nursing care, pain management, teaching, toxicology, transfusion medicine, trauma, and triage. Cindy is also a part-time Adjunct Instructor for the RVT program at Los Angeles Pierce College. She is taking graduate courses in Veterinary Forensic Science/Wildlife and hopes to complete a Masters of Science degree in that field. Cindy also volunteers weekly as an RVT at the Los Angeles Zoo.

She has a house full of rescued animals that include dogs, guinea pigs and a special needs neuro cat.
