When Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is performed on a patient, a magnetic field is applied to the body to align particles within the tissues. The magnetic field is interrupted and the coils monitor the particles return to their nature alignment. This modality is ideal for evaluating tissues with various amounts of hydrogen, particularly water content. MRI is commonly used to examine the brain, spinal cord, spinal canal, muscles and soft tissues of the abdomen.

Diagnostic Imaging

Our hospital offers a number of diagnostic imaging services. Diagnostic imaging refers to the techniques and processes used to create images of your pet's body or body parts for medical purposes. These images allow your veterinarian to diagnose or re-examine a disease condition or determine if your pet's systems are normal. There are many forms of diagnostic imaging, including radiographs (x-rays), ultrasound, CT scans and MRI. Some form of diagnostic imaging is usually required in a medical work-up or as part of a general wellness examination.

Ask our staff or veterinarians if you have other questions about our comprehensive services.
