Dr. Brooke Owens was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and completed her A.B. degree in history at Princeton University in 2002. While in her last year of undergraduate studies, she discovered her love of science and completed the post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Columbia University to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She is a third generation veterinarian who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010 and then completed a thirteen month internship specializing in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Owens joined Alton Road Animal Hospital in 2014 after several years practicing emergency medicine at multiple specialty/referral centers in South Florida. She is also certified in veterinary acupuncture and enjoys employing a holistic approach to her patient's healthcare protocol.

She lives in Miami Beach with her husband Kurt, daughter Zoe, son Knox, their two cats Cricket and Darnell and her rescue dog Jenny.
