Ayla Brown discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at just nine years old while on vacation in South Padre Island, Texas. During the trip, she found a Monarch butterfly struggling to fly and immediately jumped in to help. With a small bowl of sugar water and patience, she nursed the butterfly until it regained its strength. Hours later, she watched it take off into the sky—and in that moment, she knew exactly what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
Dr. Brown was raised in Sugar Land, Texas, and earned her degree in Animal Science from Texas Tech University before attending Oklahoma State University, where she received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in May 2019. Shortly after graduation, she joined VCA, where she continues to provide compassionate, comprehensive care to her patients.
Dr. Brown's medical interests include surgery and dentistry, geriatric and palliative care, and preventive medicine. She is especially passionate about addressing behavioral concerns by helping clients better understand their pets' needs. In recognition of her dedication to strengthening the human–animal bond, Dr. Brown was honored with the World Animal Care Foundation Award in 2019.
Outside the hospital, Dr. Brown loves to travel, try new foods, and spend time outdoors—whether she's scuba diving or snorkeling, hiking, swimming, or skiing. At home, she's happily outnumbered by her pets: Charlie Brown, a spirited dog who runs the household; Pumpkin, a sweet calico cat; and Duke, her lovable "stepdog" dachshund.
