Kris

Veterinary Assistant

Kris is a veterinary assistant at VCA AVH Animal Hospital in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, where she brings more than two decades of hands-on experience to patient care. Known for her calm, capable presence, she has a natural ability to work with pets of all temperaments, including those who may be anxious, reactive, or more difficult to handle. Her experience, patience, and steady approach help create a more supportive experience for both pets and their families.

With more than 20 years in veterinary medicine, her career began as a kennel assistant and continued to grow through experience in multiple hospitals, including emergency care settings. Over the years, she has pursued advanced training in areas including anesthesia monitoring, patient behavior and handling, radiology, laser therapy, cytology, nutrition, and recovery support, continually strengthening her ability to care for patients with skill, attentiveness, and compassion. She considers herself a lifelong member of the veterinary field and continues to expand her knowledge as she prepares to begin her veterinary technician studies through Penn Foster.

“I truly love what I do. The good, the bad, and even the really hard days. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a sick pet go home to their family feeling better.”

She has a special passion for working with larger and more difficult patients, taking the time to understand their behavior and create an approach that helps them feel more comfortable and at ease during care. Her background in rescue and emergency medicine has reinforced the importance of patience, adaptability, and individualized care for every pet and situation.
Kris believes every patient deserves to be treated as an individual and takes pride in advocating for pets while helping clients feel informed, supported, and reassured throughout their pet’s care experience. She understands that veterinary visits can sometimes feel overwhelming for both pets and families and works to build trust through patience, respect, and genuine compassion.

“I treat every patient as if they were my own and believe every situation is different. Taking the time to do what is right for that pet makes all the difference.”

Kris looks forward to continuing to support pets and families in Pen Argyl and the surrounding Slate Belt communities as part of the AVH team, bringing experience, patience, and genuine compassion to every patient she cares for. Her goal is to help pets feel safe and supported during care while giving families reassurance that their pet is being cared for by someone who truly understands and advocates for their needs.
