Maureen

Certified Veterinary Technician Supervisor

CVT

Maureen is the technician supervisor at VCA AVH Animal Hospital in Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, where she supports patient care and helps create a calm, supportive experience for pets and their families. She plays a key role in making sure each visit feels organized, consistent, and grounded in trust.

Maureen began her career in shelter medicine in 2003, where she developed a strong interest in both veterinary medicine and animal behavior. She went on to earn her associate degree in veterinary technology from NCC/LCC and became a certified veterinary technician in 2007. Her early experience working with animals in high-stress environments shaped her steady, observant approach to care.

“I want pets to feel as comfortable as possible while they are here, even when they are nervous or unsure. That starts with understanding their behavior and meeting them where they are.”

With a strong interest in canine and feline behavior, dentistry, and ultrasonography, Maureen focuses on helping pets feel safe throughout their visit. She pays close attention to how each animal responds to their surroundings and adjusts her approach to reduce stress and build trust.

What she values most about her role is caring for pets during surgical visits, where she often becomes their “person” for the day. She finds meaning in building trust with patients during those quieter moments, helping them feel safe before and after procedures, and supporting them through recovery.

“Even small moments matter. When a pet feels safe and cared for, it changes their entire experience.”

Maureen looks forward to continuing to support pets and families in Pen Argyl and the surrounding Slate Belt communities while helping create an environment where clients feel trust, consistency, and confidence in their pet’s care. Her goal is for every visit to feel calm, supportive, and grounded in the kind of trust that builds over time.
