As one of our veterinary assistants, Maya joined VCA Aviara Animal Hospital in October 2022. She moved to San Diego about 3 years ago from Florida. She obtained her associate's degree in ASL Interpreting and recently completed her certification in veterinary assistance. Maya’s goal is to continue her schooling and become a credentialed veterinary technician. She says she remained in this field as it offers a new challenge every day. Maya has thrived in the short amount of time she has been with the hospital.

Away from the hospital, Maya loves spending time with her family, which includes a sweet Chihuahua mix named Mickey. She also likes to read, write, do crafts and customize Funko Pops.
