Sue was raised in Redford, Michigan, with two older brothers and one younger sister. She worked at Detroit Edison for 22 years, until taking a buyout in 2001. Sue then joined the staff at Beech Road Veterinary Hospital in 2001 and transitioned over to VCA Beech Road Animal Hospital in 2005. She has one daughter and twin grandsons that she loves spending time with.
