Candice Bhatia
Hospital Manager

Candice was born and raised in Fairfax, VA where she started working at a young age in her family owned business doing many various jobs. After graduating from high school she attended George Mason University, but was still unsure of her career path. Finally, she realized she wanted to work with animals. She applied and was accepted into the Veterinary Technology Program.

Candice had many pets while growing up, and she remembers being a client of Commonwealth as a child. In 2000, she decided to start her veterinary career with an internship at Commonwealth. She graduated from NOVA with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and obtained her license in Veterinary Technology in 2001. After completing her internship at Commonwealth, she became a full time employee.

Over the years she has gained much knowledge and responsibility and is now the Hospital Manager of VCA Commonwealth.  She is married with a full house of 3 beautiful young girls and 1 dog named Buttercup.  Candice also has an extreme love for baking, cooking, sports and spending time hosting many family gatherings.

"I actually had no idea what I wanted to do after high school. The career choices were just not interesting to me. I knew I wanted to help people in some way whether it was being an EMT or working in a hospital. I knew animals would be more exciting for me so I looked into the Veterinary field. My original plan was to become a veterinarian but soon after finding out the important role the technician makes in the patients’ lives, I liked that even more. Nursing them back to health and giving them routine care is an amazing reward. Growing into the role of manager just makes it more fun and gratifying. Knowing that I can help owners and their pets in every way is the greatest! There is always something new to learn and every day is just exciting in the veterinary field!"
