Our Veterinary Services

We provide veterinary services for every stage in your pet's life, from their first vaccines to a lifetime of care, to keep them happy and healthy.

At VCA Animal Hospitals, your pet's health is our top priority, provided through high-quality, genuine personal service. We pledge to instill client trust and confidence that your pet will always receive compassionate, gentle care, as well as the highest standard of veterinary medical service available.

Dr. Leonhardt has been with our practice for over 25 years. Not only is she the medical director of our veterinary hospital, she is also the Area Medical Director (AMD). As AMD she oversees the medical quality at 15 other hospitals throughout Long Island. Dr. Leonhardt has performed over 100 stem cell treatments on dogs for the treatment of arthritis, some including platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy. Please call us today to see if this treatment could help benefit your pet.

Both Dr. Perrone and Dr. Leonhardt serve on the advisory board of Volunteers for Wildlife and Dr. Leonhardt works closely with Canine Companions for Independence and is PennHIP certified. PennHIP testing is a noninvasive radiographic (x-ray) procedure that allows your veterinarian to assess the health of your dog's hips and predict the onset of hip disease (hip osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease or hip dysplasia).

Dr. Perrone has continued to expand her surgical skill set performing a variety of procedures, including dental cleanings and extractions, cruciate repairs, and grid keratotomies (a minimally invasive surgical procedure to treat corneal ulcers).

Our two newest doctors, Dr. Allar and Dr. Pea bring with them additional varied interests, both having previous experience with wildlife, they fit right in to the Animal General family. Dr. Pea plans on pursuing her acupuncture certification and Dr. Allar's passions include small animal surgery and dermatology.

At Animal General, we treat a wide variety of pets; our veterinarians have experience with animals great and small, from dogs and cats, to parrots, bunnies, birds, pigs, and reptiles.

We even get an occasional chicken or two! Basically...if it fits in the door, or is small enough to fit in one of your pockets, our doctors are ready, willing and able to see it.

We, at Animal General, thank you for trusting us with the furriest members of your family!
