Dr. Wayland began fostering a love of animals early on, raised with horses, farm animals, dogs, cats, and snakes, animals have been a lifelong passion for him. He started working in veterinary clinics at 16 years old. He worked as a veterinary technician through high school and college as he worked towards becoming a veterinarian. He graduated UC San Diego with a degree in biochemistry in 2005 and went on to attend veterinary school at Kansas State University, graduating in 2010. He spent 8 years in the US Army as a veterinary corps officer, treating animals around the world and performing a number of public health services. Dr. Wayland and his family wanted a more settled life and left military service in 2015, settling in the Eugene/Springfield area. Dr. Wayland has training and special interest in dentistry, surgery, and exotic animal medicine. Generally, if it fits in the office, he'll see it! Dr. Wayland has a small farm where he keeps one horse, two goats, two alpacas, 15 chickens, 3 ducks, and a turkey named "Mr. T", two cats, a dog, and a bearded dragon. He enjoys long through hikes, is an avid rower, and enjoys being outside.
