Ellie Bohrer
Staff Veterinarian DVM

Dr. Ellie Bohrer was born and raised in Gresham, Oregon. Her passion for animals was inspired by her family; there was always a leash and water bowl in the back of the family car in case a lost dog needed help. Growing up she was involved in 4-H and volunteered at the Oregon Humane Society.

Dr. Bohrer received her undergraduate degree with a major in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry from the Oregon State University Honors College. While completing her undergraduate studies she worked in the reproductive sciences lab, which allowed her to publish multiple studies and speak at an international conference in Paris, France. She went on to receive her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the Oregon State University Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed both the small and large animal track which challenged her to broaden her medical and surgical knowledge base. Her commitment to her fellow students and patients led to her receiving the prestigious E. E. Wedman Outstanding Senior Award. Dr. Bohrer then completed a rotating internship at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Clackamas, Oregon where she developed additional skills in emergency medicine/critical care, neurology, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, and radiology.

She has a special interest in challenging medicine cases, urgent care, pain management, and palliative care for our sweet geriatric pets. She is thrilled to be able to serve her home community of Portland!

When not at work, Dr. Bohrer can often be found spending time exploring and hiking in the great PNW outdoors. She also enjoys spending time at the barn with her horse Handy. Dr. Bohrer's other loves include cuddling her orange cat, Tillie, and a really great bowl of mac and cheese.
