Radiology is the study and science of X-rays. X-rays are used to help your veterinarian diagnose a problem or a disease in your pet. The images x-rays provide can detect arthritis, fractures, bony tumors and other forms of cancer; heart enlargement and congestive heart failure; bladder and kidney stones; stomach or intestinal foreign bodies; pneumonia and other lung diseases and much more.
X-rays are utilized as part of a diagnostic work-up if your pet is having a problem or offered during a general wellness examination to detect potential problems early (most often with senior pets).
We also dedicate ourselves to utilizing hands-free radiology techniques. Often paired with light sedation, Hands-Free radiology helps to reduce pet stress and anxiety while obtaining diagnostics. In doing this, we strive to ensure your pet’s comfort and safety. Hands-free techniques help to reduce the time that both your pet and our team are exposed to radiation. The overarching goal with hands-free radiology is to maintain as stress-free an environment as possible and obtain clear X-ray images while mitigating unnecessary radiation exposure.
