Ema joined the VCA Salem team in 2017 and brings over 20 years of vet med experience to her role as our ER team lead. Being able to see a bad situation turn into a good outcome for a patient and their family is one of the aspects she loves about her job. Although from the city, Ema considers herself a "country girl all the way" and shares her home with a variety of farm and domesticated animals including dogs, cats, fish, chickens, quail, turkeys, pigs, and cows.
Outside of work, you may find Ema spending time with her family, working in the garden or at the farm, foraging and hiking, or attending a baseball, softball or basketball game. Ema has obtained her certification in both Basic and Advanced Life Support through the RECOVER Initiative and is also a Certified Cat Friendly Veterinary Assistant through the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
