Formerly known as Pet Medical Center, the veterinary hospital located at 4053 Commercial St. SE has changed its name to VCA Salem Animal Hospital and is under new ownership. The caring professional staff strives to offer the latest technology, and every convenience imaginable. Our aim is to provide your pet with care and compassion second to none!

VCA Salem Animal Hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association therefore, meeting the highest standards of excellence in care for your pet. Our staff understands that our pets are like our children and that's our motivation in providing the best medical care possible. Even more importantly, we treat all pets with great care and compassion.

Sarah Giambuzzi
DVM, cVMA, MS Medical Director - Surgery, Emergency Care
A 2015 VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine DVM graduate, Dr. Sarah Giambuzzi joined the Salem practice in 2019, relocating from Virginia.  

Dr. Sarah, as she likes to be called, received her Bachelor's from West Chester University in 2005, her Master's from Penn State University in 2009 and was certified as a veterinary acupuncturist at Colorado State University in 2014. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. 

Dr. Sarah's primary areas of interest are critical care, soft tissue surgery and pain management/acupuncture. 

She has a huge soft spot and love for pit bull-type dogs and yorkies. Dr. Sarah ran a non-profit focusing primarily on pit bulls for eight years.  

She loves the Willamette Valley for the great outdoors and the terrific food, wine and microbrews. When she's not working or teaching a Zumba class, she may be found at home with her husband and three dogs
 
Kyle Palmer
CVT Hospital Administrator
Raised in the Willamette Valley, Kyle has over 30 years of management experience in the veterinary industry. Concurrently, he is the Executive Director for an association of equine practitioners, contributes to several national veterinary management magazines, and has his own consulting business, teaching veterinary dental radiology and helping others improve their management skills.

He and his wife, Julie, have raised two adult children and are proud grandparents to a 7 and 5 year old. They currently share their household with a absolutely crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Pyper.

Administration

The hospital administration team consists of management personnel who oversee all staff members, hospital activities and the facilities. Together, they keep the hospital running smoothly, ensuring quality patient care and excellent client service. From the moment you check in, our administrative staff is here to deliver the best possible experience to you and your pet before, during and after your visit.
