Dr. Olivia Holguin graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with a bachelor's degree in Zoology. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State University.
Before finding her place in veterinary medicine, she tried different career paths, including conservation work with Andean bears in Ecuador and working as a zookeeper at the El Paso Zoo. She enjoyed training lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!), among the other zoo animals, but she wanted more in life. While working as a veterinary technician in a specialty hospital in El Paso, she found her passion for emergency medicine.
She enjoys hiking with her husband and two dogs during her free time. She also has two cats who enjoy lounging at home with their saltwater fish aquarium. Dr. Holguin was born and raised on the beautiful island of O'ahu, Hawaii, and misses the beach and the super ʻono (delicious) food from home.
